Hemorrhagic Cardiac Tamponade: Rare Complication of Radiofrequency Ablation of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

چکیده
Local treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been widely used in clinical practice due to its minimal invasiveness and high rate of cure. Percutaneous radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is widely used because its treatment effectiveness. However, some serious complications can arise from percutaneous RFA. We present here a rare case of hemorrhagic cardiac tamponade secondary to an anterior cardiac vein (right marginal vein) injury during RFA for treatment of HCC.

Thoracoscopic Treatment of Massive Hemorrhagic Complication Due to Diaphragm Injury after Radiofrequency Ablation of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
The clinical application of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of hepatic tumor has gradually been accepted as an effective and safe method for the treatment of small hepatic malignant tumors. However, the potential complications were often overlooked. We report a case of hepatitis C related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), who developed a massive hemothorax after a RFA procedure for treatment of rec...
متن کاملA Case of Delayed Fatal Hemobilia after Radiofrequency Ablation of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has been accepted as a safe and effective treatment for unresectable hepatic tumors because of the advantages of a minimally invasive procedure and the local treatment effect. Although RFA can be performed safely in most patients, early and late complications related to mechanical or thermal damage may be observed at follow-up examination. Hemobilia is a very rare ...
متن کاملComplications of Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation.
Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFA) has evolved as an effective treatment modality in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). However, complication rates associated with RFA of AF have been cited in the range of 3.5 - 5% with the majority consisting of cardiac tamponade, vascular complications, and thromboembolic phenomena. In this review, the complications of AF ablation will be discussed a...
متن کاملDrop metastasis from hepatocellular carcinoma after percutaneous radiofrequency ablation therapy
For treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), a nonsurgical locoregional therapy, is frequently chosen as the first treatment modality because it is effective and less invasive, with preservation of the remnant hepatic parenchyma. Tumor implantation along needle tract or on other sites is a rare complication of RFA. We present a patient with HCC who developed a dro...
متن کاملSurgical treatment of bronchobiliary fistula due to radiofrequency ablation for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma
Bronchobiliary fistula (BBF) is a rare complication of radiofrequency ablation (RFA), in which there is abnormal communications between the biliary tract and the bronchial trees. Surgery should only be considered for BBF when non-invasive interventions have failed. In this report, we describe the surgical management for BBF when complicated by an abscess that was encountered after RFA in a 52-y...
